Kaitlyn Kruse earns US Figure Skating Gold Medalist Status!

Congratulations to LHS junior, 𝐊𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐥𝐲𝐧 𝐊𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐞, daughter of Todd and Alecia Kruse, who passed her Gold Dance Test to become a US Figure Skating Gold Medalist!

These national tests are the highest test level a US figure skater can achieve. Kaitlyn is coached by Lisa Semanko and is one of only ten TRFSC figure skaters in the history of the club to achieve US Figure Skating gold medalist status.

 
Quadruple Gold Medalist Alert!
LHS senior Brookie Bakke, daughter of Joanie Bakke and the late Dennis Bakke, recently passed her Senior Free Skate Test to become a four time US Figure Skating Gold Medalist. These national tests are the highest test level a US figure skater can achieve. Bakke is coached by Lisa Semanko and previously earned Gold Medalist status by passing her Gold Dances, Senior Moves in the Field, and Senior Solo Free Dance.
 
Bakke is one of nine TRFSC figure skaters in the history of the club to achieve US Figure Skating gold medalist status and joins only one other skater (collegiate club member Abigail Semanko) in achieving Quadruple Gold Medalist standing. Additionally, there are four single gold medalists (including teammate Natalie Novak); two double gold medalists, and one triple gold medalist (collegiate club member Emma Christianson).

 
Natalie Novak earns US Figure Skating Gold Medalist Status!
Natalie Novak, daughter of Garrett and Andrea Novak and a senior at Lincoln HS, recently passed her Senior Solo Free Dance to become a US Figure Skating Gold Medalist. These national tests are the highest test level a U.S. figure skating can achieve.
 
Natalie joins only eight other TRFSC figure skaters in the 40+ year history of the club to achieve US Figure Skating Gold Medalist status!! She is coached by Chelsey Vettleson.

 
Christianson Earns Triple Gold Medalist Status!

Emma Christianson, daughter of Del and Sherri Christianson and a senior at Lincoln HS, recently passed her Gold Dance Test to become a 3x US Figure Skating Gold Medalist. These national tests are the highest test level a US figure skater can achieve. Christianson is coached by Lisa Semanko and previously earned Gold Medalist status by passing her Senior level Moves in the Field and Senior Solo Free Dance.

Christianson joins only seven other TRFSC figure skaters in the 40+ year history of the club to achieve US Figure Skating gold medalist status. There are three single gold medalists (they have earned top levels in one discipline, either moves in the field or dance); two double gold medalists, one additional triple gold medalist (teammate Brookie Bakke); and one quadruple gold medalist, TRFSC collegiate club member Abigail Semanko.

 
Emma Christianson - Double Gold Medalist!

Congratulations to Emma Christianson who passed her Senior Solo Free Dance on Sunday, January 31, 2021, in a virtual test session held in Thief River Falls to become a United States Figure Skating Double Gold Medalist!Becoming a U.S. Figure Skating gold medalist is the culmination of many years of hard work and dedication to the sport. In a typical year, approximately 40,000 U.S. Figure Skating test levels are completed by athletes; of those, about 1,300, or 3 percent, are at the gold or senior level.Emma Christianson is the daughter of Del and Sherri Christianson and a junior at Lincoln High School. She has passed her Senior Moves in the Field and Senior Solo Free Dance to achieve this national recognition.

Emma joins only four other TRF skaters who, over the club’s 40+ year history, have achieved Double Gold Medalist status. Emma is a member of the Thief River Falls and Lincoln High School Skating Clubs and is coached by Lisa Semanko.

 
Brooklyn Bakke - Triple Gold Medalist!

Brooklyn Bakke, daughter of Joanie and the late Dennis Bakke and a sophomore at Lincoln HS, recently passed her Senior Solo Free Dance to become a three time US Figure Skating Gold Medalist. According to US Figure Skating, “In a typical year, approximately 30,000 U.S. Figure Skating test levels are completed by athletes; of those, about 1,350, or 4.5 percent, are at the gold or senior level.” These national tests are the highest test level a US figure skater can achieve. Bakke is coached by Lisa Semanko and previously earned Gold Medalist status by passing her Senior level Moves in the Field and Gold level dances. According to Bakke, her next goal is “to pass my senior freeskate test like Abigail [Semanko].”

  • Emma became a double gold medalist by passing her Senior Solo Free Dance

According to the United States Figure Skating Association, “In a typical year, approximately 30,000 U.S. Figure Skating test levels are completed by athletes; of those, about 1,350, or 4.5 percent, are at the gold or senior level.” 

Over the club’s 40+ year history, only 5 skaters have achieved Double Gold Medalist status and that elite group includes both Emma and Brookie!

 
BAKKE AND CHRISTIANSON PASS USFS GOLD MEDAL TESTS!

Brooklyn Bakke, daughter of Dennis and Joanie Bakke, is Freshman at Lincoln High School and passed her Senior Moves in the Field to become a DOUBLE USFS Gold Medalist.  She joins only three other TRF skaters who, over the club’s 40+ year history, have achieved Double Gold Medalist status. Brookie is a member of the Thief River Falls and Lincoln High School Skating Clubs and is coached by Lisa Semanko.

Emma Christianson is the daughter of Del and Sherri Christianson and a Sophomore at Lincoln High School. Emma passed her Senior Moves in the Field to achieve this national recognition. Emma joins only seven other TRF skaters who, over the club’s 40+ year history, have achieved Gold Medalist status.  Emma is a member of the Thief River Falls and Lincoln High School Skating Clubs and is coached by Lisa Semanko.

ABIGAIL SEMANKO IS A QUADRUPLE GOLD MEDALIST!

Abigail Semanko, daughter of Marty and Lisa Semanko, recently became a United States Figure Skating Gold Medalist for the fourth time. Semanko is a senior at Lincoln High School and passed her Senior Free Skate test in Fergus Falls on March 8, 2019 to achieve this national recognition. She has previously achieved Gold Medal status in Moves in the Field, Dance, and Solo Free Dance. According to the United States Figure Skating Association, she is one of only 210 figure skaters in the United States to have ever achieved quadruple Gold Medalist status. Semanko is coached by Lisa Semanko and Chelsey Vettleson.
